Things to do

Carlisle has a great range of small to large retail offerings, with some city shops stretching back decades.

The city straddles Hadrian’s Wall (UNESCO site), and boasts a Cathedral and Castle which are both still in use today.

The city also played a strategic role during the two wars, and is the only place in the UK where a State Management brewery system took control of all the pubs.
