Carlisle Fringe Festival is the newest Fringe on the circuit and we present over 100 shows and events across eleven days around the bank holiday in August.
Half of the shows and events we present are free which makes us the most affordable Fringe Festival in the world.
About a third of the shows we present are crafted and produced right here in the city which means you will get to meet some of the real characters and stories of the place.
We have a Festival Hub right in the heart of the city, with a free music stage playing day and night. A temporary Container Theatre is situated right behind us with a varied selection of comedy, storytelling, theatre and children’s shows playing around the clock.
We have a great pricing policy which means you get to see most shows for £8, and the city is the perfect setting for the festival with its old fashioned pubs and upcoming restaurant scene.
Carlisle is probably one of the most intimate cities in England, and its situated right in the middle of the UK – so if you are planning a trip around the time of the festival, you have no excuse.
There are fewer places in the UK that can boast as much history as this city.
We are also fortunate to be stuck right at the top of the Lake District, with Keswick a mere forty minutes to the South.
